Rockwell and Wild are criminally underused but at least Harrison Ford gives it a go вЂ“ Gawd bless the old fool. Daniel Craig is obviously trying to show he can do something far-departed from Bond but ends up doing something very similar with another quiet, brooding hero act.

ItвЂ™s a shame that a quality class is squandered here. DidnвЂ™t FavreauВ use to be fairly funny before he became a вЂseriousвЂ™ Hollywood Director and made the Iron Mans? The only humourous parts are the unintentional ones and the cliches build up by the bucketload (including the old staple of the cowboy riding off into the sunset).В Cowboys and Aliens can only get through this by trying to beВ funny once in aВ while but it doesnвЂ™t even try. The major downfall inВ FavreauвЂ™s movie is that there isВ absolutely no self-conscious mockery but instead it takes itself very very seriously. Punches, explosions, and gunshots feel forceful thanks. It pushes the limits of its PG-13 rating in a way that most movies don't, large budget or no, and it makes the experience a uniquely satisfying one. Cowboys and Aliens comes out on disc this week, so I thought IвЂ™d dig out a previously unpublished. Despite the campy name, Cowboys & Aliens is a violent, and occasionally quite graphic, movie. There are the cowboys straight out of yokel desert town of Western folklore who donвЂ™t take kindly to strangers, especially Jake Lonergan (Craig) who wanders in with a strange bracelet on his wrist. Unfortunately, IвЂ™m not saying that this is a good idea but it is a new one at least.Д¬owboys and Aliens is about cowboys and aliens, surprisingly enough.

Ditching the tiresome old Indians and replacing them with little green martians вЂ“ well thatвЂ™s new fangled and interesting. I tried to convince them that they should release the cow-sex vids as they were sure to вЂњgo viral.вЂќ) It seems that the cows, hired to be background players in these interviews, were getting a little randy towards the end of the day and performing unspeakable acts. (We almost didnвЂ™t receive the tapes from this interview from the studio. Like many movie experiments, itвЂ™s got lots of things to like about it, even if the film as a whole didnвЂ™t please the masses. I get the feeling this movie may gather more fans over time. If the admittedly awkward title scared you off this summer, give it a try at home and see what you think. I really enjoyed talking to him over the course of the вЂњCowboys and AliensвЂќ production, and I think you can tell from this interview. Cowboys and Aliens has the kernel of a good movie in it - it gets two stars from me because it's a completely squandered opportunity. Sadly, this is a rare trait among the directors that IвЂ™ve met. He shows an obvious interest in every part of the filmmaking process, and can get into the nitty gritty of all the little technicalities of a production. The movie didnвЂ™t do as well as he and the rest of the cast would have liked, but still, it was an interesting experiment in genre mixing, and an all out love letter to westerns on FavreauвЂ™s part.ДЄlthough I wouldnвЂ™t consider myself a rabid fan of all his movies, I have come to appreciate the man for the obvious passion and love for his craft.
